Lab Member Among IUPUI’s Elite 50 Graduate Students

Rohini Vemparala, a former member of the Janga Lab who has recently earned a Master’s degree in Health Informatics, has been honored as one of IUPUI’s Elite 50 graduate and professional students for the 2024 year. This honor recognizes individuals who excel beyond academic achievements, highlighting their leadership on campus, impressive scholarly contributions, and active engagement in community initiatives. Lab Member Among IUPUI’s Top 100 Undergraduates

Sahiti Somalraju, currently a senior majoring Biomedical Informatics, has been named one of IUPUI’s Top 100 undergraduate students. This recognition is awarded to students who exhibit achievements in three key areas: academic excellence, campus leadership, and community engagement. Sahiti’s selection into this distinguished group reflects her hard work, dedication, and positive influence within the Janga lab and the broader community. Lab member receives Luddy Scholarships

Sahiti Somalraju, an undergraduate in Biomedical Informatics, received the “Make Your Mark” and “Dean’s Advisory Council Senior” scholarships from Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering. She is among the 22 recipients.

‘DataWiz-IN Scholars Program for Biomedical Informatics’ Grant received from NLM

Dr. Sarath Janga as a PI received an R25 biomedical informatics training grant from National Library of Medicine (NLM), National Institutes of Health  and is among the 12 institutions funded via this program for developing diverse biomedical informatics and data science training programs. The NLM will issue the grants on an annual basis, for five years. The goal of the investment is to develop programs that prepare the next generation of diverse students for biomedical informatics and data science graduate studies and research careers.

Lilly Research Award Program (LRAP)

Janga’s team from the BioHealth Informatics Department at the IU School of Informatics and Computing at IUPUI received a Lilly Research Award Program (LRAP) award in collaboration with scientists at Eli Lilly and Company.  The research team will characterize RNA-protein interactions in primary tissues, enabling the identification of potential RNA drug targets in NASH and liver disease models.
